Sixth Church keeps its doors open to the community throughout the week with its Reading Room. It contains a sales area where you can purchase and borrow books and magazines published by the Christian Science Publishing Society, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor. The Reading Room librarians are happy to answer your questions about Christian Science. There is a quiet study room where you can explore the Bible, the writings of Mary Baker Eddy – including the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. We have bound volumes of publications with documented Christian Science healings dating back to 1883. A computer is available for an online search of these volumes. The Reading Room has resources for achieving personal growth, health, and spiritual discovery through Christian Science study and prayer. All are welcome to visit.
Our Sunday School begins at 11:00 am and is open to children and teens up to the age of 20. It is held at the same time as our Sunday church service. In class, students learn of God’s love for them and all of God’s children, as well as how the spiritual and moral teachings of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures provide practical help every day, in every situation. Students study the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:3-17), the Lord’s Prayer (Matt 6:9-13), and its Spiritual Interpretation (Science & Health 16:24) by Mary Baker Eddy and the Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5:3-12). Students also study and discuss topics from the Weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson. There is always time for lively question and answer discussions.
Child care is available for those too young for Sunday School.
Sunday church services begin at 11:00 am and last one hour. The subject and content of Sixth Church’s Sunday Service follows the Weekly Bible Lesson published in the Christian Science Quarterly, including readings from our pastor, the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The service includes an organ prelude and postlude, hymns and a solo. Child care is available for children too young to attend Sunday School.
Sixth Church offers a mid-week, one-hour testimony meeting on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm. The meetings begin with thought-provoking readings, on a timely topic, selected from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, which is the Christian Science textbook. The readings make up the first half of the service. After the readings, the meeting is open to share testimonies of Christian Science healing. The service also includes hymns. Child care is available for young children.
